Google has confirmed that it will shut down the Google Podcasts app next year. Google has not confirmed the exact date or month. The service will continue to work normally until the last date. Podcasts are already available on YouTube and YouTube Music app. Most people prefer YouTube for listening to podcasts. So, there was no point in managing the Google Podcasts app when it had very few users.

YouTube Music got podcasts back in February this year. The company added a library of audio and video podcast content.

Now when Google has decided to shut down Google Podcasts, podcasts in YouTube Music will get notable updates and wider availability. Google will also provide an easy way for users to move from Google Google Podcast to YouTube Music. Google will offer a migration tool and the ability to add podcast RSS feeds.

Google will also add an option to download an OPML file of subscriptions from Google Podcasts and upload it to any other Podcasts app for people who do not want to use YouTube Music for Podcasts.

Google Podcasts was launched on Android back in 2018 and offered a library of podcasts for free. Later Google also released the app for iOS, web, Windows, and macOS.
