WhatsApp for the web will soon let users log in via the Phone number

WhatsApp web QR code

Meta has updated WhatsApp for the web and added support for login via phone number. For now, this ability is only available to users who are using WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.23.14.18. If you are running the said version of WhatsApp beta on your phone, you will now see another option ‘Link with phone number’ on the WhatsApp for web login page.

Clicking on the link asks users to enter their phone number.

Once you enter the phone number and click next, It will show you a code. Now open the WhatsApp app on your phone and enter the code shown on your WhatsApp for the web page. As soon as you enter the code, WhatsApp for Web will fetch your account details and chats.

As of now, we cannot say when the feature will be made available in the stable version. If you are using WhatsApp beta, you can try checking the feature. iOS users also need to wait for this feature.

I didn’t find this feature much useful. Scanning the QR code to login into the WhatsApp account was quicker than entering a phone number and then entering an 8-character one-time code. The company has actually given a two-step process when we already have a one step process.
