Reliance Jio introduces Jio Bharat feature phone with 4G connectivity

Reliance Jio has announced the launch of its new Jio Bhrat Phone with the aim of ‘2G-Mukt Bharat.’ The company will start the beta trial of the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones starting July 7 across 6,500 tehsils in India.

As per the press release, there are still 250 million mobile subscribers who are still using 2G feature phones. These phones do not provide access to good Internet connectivity. With Jio Bharat, Reliance Jio aims to provide access to a faster internet connection to common Indian citizens.

As per the details available, the phone will come with JioPay for UPI payments, JioCinema for movies and videos, JioSaavn for music, and FM Radio. Jio Bharat feature phone also features a camera for capturing photos.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio, commented, “There are still 250 million mobile phone users in India who remain ‘trapped’ in the 2G era, unable to tap into basic features of the internet at a time when the world stands at the cusp of a 5G revolution.”

The company also announced the basic price of recharge plans for these Jio Bharat Phones. The company will provide unlimited voice calls and 0.5GB of data per day at just Rs. 123 per month for Jio users. There is also an annual plan offering unlimited voice calls and 0.5GB per day at Rs. 1234 per year.
