YouTube has decided to lower the monetization requirements for creators under the YouTube Partner Program. Now you need to have 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
If we compare it with previous requirements, one needed to have at least 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
The new changes are being applied in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. The company plans to roll it out to other countries later.
YouTube is also expanding its Shopping affiliate pilot program to more creators. U.S. creators, who are already in YPP and have more than 20,000 subscribers are now eligible. They can now tag products in videos and Shorts to earn affiliate incoming. Google has patterned with more than 50 brands and several creators to tag products in videos. Creators can tag products and users can conveniently shop for products.

YouTube is trying its best to let Shorts creators earn money. The company also started sharing ad revenue with Shorts Creators starting February. Now more creators are eligible to tag products and earn from Affiliate commissions.
