Finally, Apple has introduced the product we have been waiting for years. Apple unveiled its AR headset called Vision Pro at WWDC 2023.

The headset has an aluminum frame with curved glass up front. It also has a physical button to capture images and a digital crown for adjustments. The AR headset also has built-in audio pods on the sides to provide sound. Apple claims that the system can create the illusion of different audio sources.

The EyeSight feature lets the wearer remain aware of the surrounding. When someone is nearby, the device feels transparent. Another person will appear in your view and he will also see your eyes.

Apple’s Vision Pro headset features high-resolution micro LED displays and has 23 million pixels across two display panels. It can render 4k videos at full resolution. There is a three-element lens to improve the imaging from all angles. Apple has also partnered with Zeiss to bring custom prescription glass inserts.

Users can also connect the headset to their Mac and expand Mac’s display in a virtual space.

Apple Vision Pro runs visionOS, which has been designed from the ground to support the low-latency requirements of spatial computing. It features a new three-dimensional interface and can respond dynamically to natural light and casting shadow. So, users can understand scale and distance. Users can easily navigate and interact with spatial content. It also lets users browse through apps by simply looking at them. Users can tap their fingers to select, flick their wrists to scroll, and use voice to dictate.

There’s also a new App Store where users can discover apps and content from developers to access on the headset. Developers’ community can take advantage of visionOS to design brand-new app experiences.

The device also lets users make FaceTime calls directly from the headset. It will display life-sized individuals over video calls. The headset also features a 3D camera to show depth in video with Spatial Audio. There’s also an option for a cinematic video viewing experience. The 3D camera also lets users capture ‘Spatial’ photos and videos.

The device also has a high-performance eye-tracking system that uses high-speed cameras and a ring of LEDs to project invisible light patterns on the user’s eyes for input.

The headset packs M2 for good performance. The brand-new R1 chip processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to ensure the content always remains in front of the eyes. Apple claims that the R1 chip can stream new images to the displays within 12 milliseconds, that’s 8 times faster than the blink of an eye.

The device packs a high-performance battery and lasts up to two hours.

Apple Vision Pro features Optic ID, a new secure authentication system that analyzes iris and compares it to enrolled Optic ID data to unlock the device. Apple confirmed that Optic ID data is fully encrypted and remains locally on the device.

Apple Vision Pro starts at $3,499 and will be available early next year on apple.com and at Apple Stores.
