Tinder is adding incognito mode and more safety features

Tinder

Tinder has added a few new safety features to give users more granular control over their visibility. Users are getting including Incognito, Block Profile, Long Press Reporting, and more features. These features are announced today to mark Safer Internet Day and are being rolled out globally.

The most notable feature added today is called “Incognito mode” which lets users partially hide their profile. While using incognito mode, users can still Like and use the app but only people they have liked will see them in recommendations. Incognito Mode will only be available to Tinder+, Gold, and Premium members.

I really don’t understand if this is a new feature. Tinder Plus users can already set to show their profile only to people they have liked. Incognito mode seems the same thing.

Tinder also now lets users Block profiles they see on Tinder. Users now have the ability to block profiles that appear in suggestions while swiping left or right, ensuring they will no longer be displayed.

Tinder is also making it easier to report a message by using the “Long Press Reporting” feature. Users can now tap and hold offensive messages to launch reporting flow directly from the chat.

The app can now detect harmful language and shows “Does This Bother you?” And “Are You Sure” prompts in chat. The “Are You Sure” prompt detects harmful language in a message before it is sent and the “Does This Bother You” prompt encourages users to report inappropriate conversations.

The company is launching a ‘Green Flags’ campaign to highlight the safety features that it offers to users for a safer and private dating experience. These guides provide actionable steps for for every stage of the dating journey for a safe dating experience. Tinder has also launched a series of Healthy Dating Guides in collaboration with No More, a campaign to end sexual assault and domestic violence.
