Toyota India recently suffered a data breach that might have exposed the personal information of some customers. The company has already notified to relevant Indian authorities at Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Indian Computer Energy Response Team (CERT-In).

“Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been notified by one of its service providers of an incident that might have exposed the personal information of some of TKM’s customers on the Internet”, the company said in an emailed statement.

The company didn’t confirm how many customers were impacted or what data was exposed in this data breach. If you are a Toyota India customer, you need to take extra care. Cybercriminals can use your information to perform phishing or social engineering attacks to further harm you financially.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will now work with its service provider to investigate the issue. It has already apologized to customers for “any concern caused.”

In October, Toyota Motor’s T-Connect service also leaked information about around 296,000 customers. In that incident, the email addresses and customer management numbers of some customers who subscribed to the T-Connect service were leaked.
