A few days back, Riot Games confirmed that it suffered a breach. Hackers compromised its development environment with a social engineering attack and accessed source code for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. Hackers also got access to source code for the company’s legacy anticheat system.

With the source code for anticheat, hackers can develop better cheats for these games. This is the main concern. Although the legacy anti-cheat has not been in use for five years, hackers also have the source code of the game. It will surely help the hacker to make a hard to detect cheats for the game.

The company also confirmed that “no player data or player personal information was compromised” in the breach. Hackers also obtained source codes that contained a number of experimental features. Some of these features may never be released to the public

Riot is now working with law enforcement and a cyber security firm to investigate the hack and find out hackers.

Now a report by Motherboard claims that hackers are asking for $10 million from the company. Motherboard has obtained a copy of a ransom email. The email claims that hackers have access to Packman and the League of Legends source code. Hackers also gave a telegram chat link where Riot Games person can talk to them.
