Bengaluru-based live-commerce platform Peepul Tree has raised$6 million in a seed funding round led by Elevar Equity.
The company will use the funds to onboard content creators for marketing their collections. It also aims to support 100,000 artisans and more than 500 crafts. It will also digitize the artisan supply chain and build technology to bring artisans, content creators, and customers on a single platform.
“We are committed to providing access to a global marketplace and a credible platform to artisans that have been at the helm of safeguarding centuries-old traditions and sustainable processes while ensuring the consumers discover and take back a conscious retail experience of a lifetime,” said Anish Williams, Founder, Peepul Tree.
Peepul Tree was founded by Anish Williams, Mini Menon, and Priya Jayaraman in 2022. It is a live commerce platform that aims to elevate the artisanal community in India. It uses a cluster-based approach to aggregate supply, create a steady stream of demand, and manage the supply chain.
“This investment in Peepul Tree is in line with our other recent investments, and an opportunity to impact the livelihoods of millions of rural households,” said Jyotsna Krishnan, managing partner, Elevar Equity.
Peepul Tree’s content arm already has more than 5,000 stories and films.
