Apple has finally brought 5G support to iPhones in India. Until now iPhone users were not able to access the 5G network due to the lack of support in iOS. Recently released iOS 16.2 RC enables 5G for iPhones in India.

The release note for iOS 16.2 doesn’t mention 5G support, but users who installed the update confirmed it.

After installing the software update, you can enable 5G from the Settings app.

Starting iPhone 12, Apple introduced 5G-enabled iPhones but it wasn’t enabled for Indian consumers. When the 5G network was released in India, iPhone users were disappointed. At the time, Apple promised to enable 5G via software release by the end of 2022.

The update also improved the Always On Display. After the update, users will be able to turn off the wallpaper and the notifications on the Always On screen.
