Leica Leitz Phone 2 with 6.6-inch 240Hz IGZO OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 47.2MP 1-inch camera sensor announced

Leica introduced a new flagship smartphone Leitz Phone 2. Leitz Phone 2 is the successor to Leitz Phone 1. The phone features a large 1-inch 47.2 MP CMOS camera sensor, a 6.6-inch 240Hz IGZO OLED display, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.

Leica Leitz Phone 2 features a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED display with a 240Hz variable refresh rate. The phone runs Android 12 out of the box. It packs Octa Core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4nm SoC and Adreno next-gen GPU. The phone has 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. Storage is further expandable up to 1TB.

It features a 47.2 megapixels 1-inch sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a Leica Sumicron lens. There is also a Low Light 1.9 megapixels ToF AF camera. Leica claims that the phone lets users capture clear photos with high dynamic range and low noise. For selfies, the phone has 12.6 megapixels front camera. The rear camera also offers 6x digital zoom and the front camera feats an 8x digital zoom.

The phone comes with a proprietary software engine that can mimic the focal length and bokeh of the Summilux 28mm, Summilux 35mm, and Noctilux 50mm.

Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging.

Leitz Phone 2 has an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass on the display. It has non-slip and knurled edges. The phone also has IPX5-IPX8/IP6X ratings for Water and dust resistance.

Leica Leitz Phone 2 is only available in ja[an and will be sold via Softbank’s website. The phone will be available for purchase starting November 18 for 225,360 yen.
