India gets second AWS infrastructure region

Amazon has set up a new AWS infrastructure region in Hyderabad India. This is India’s 2nd AWS region. The company also promises to invest more than $4.4 billion in the South Asian market by 2030.
This AWS infrastructure will support over 48 thousand full-time jobs in Hyderabad. As per estimation, the construction and operation of the infrastructure will add $7.6 billion to India’s GDP by 2030.
Customers can use several AWS services including Amazon Aurora, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling, CloudTrail, and more in the Hyderabad Region. You can read this blog post to learn all the AWS services available in the Hyderabad region.
“The launch of the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region supports India’s digital transformation and is part of our long-term investment in the country since opening our first office in 2011. Customers and partners in India will now have additional regional infrastructure to deploy applications with greater resilience, availability, and even lower latency,” said Prasad Kalyanaraman, vice president of Infrastructure Services at Amazon Data Services.
AWS leads the cloud market in India and has several big clients including Acko, SonyLiv, Axis Bank, PhysicsWallah, HDFC Bank, Niti Aayog, and more.
Amazon’s main competitors are Google and Microsoft. Google has two cloud regions in India and Microsoft maintains three cloud regions. India is a key market for Amazon. It has already invested over $6.5 Billion since it entered India via e-commerce business. Now the company is focusing a lot on cloud services.
