Google has decided to another product to the graveyard. The company is shutting down the Street View app and will end the support on March 21st, 2023. There is no official announcement yet, but 9to5Google found shutdown notices within the app upon decompiling the latest version of the Street View app for Android.

Street View app

After the news broke, Google’s spokesperson Madison Gouveia confirmed it to The Verge. He told the publication that the Street View app will be pulled from app stores in the coming weeks.

Street View offers a 360° look at different streets, landmarks, and places virtually without being there. It shows interactive panoramas of VR photographs captured by Google’s Street View vehicles.

The standalone app of Street View lets people deeply browse Street View and also allows them to contribute their own 360° imagery. Google Maps already supports Street View mode and there is a separate Street View Studio web app for contributors, Google decided to pull Street View apps from Android and iOS.

Street View will be available in Google Maps where you can virtually explore all the places. People can keep adding Photo Spheres and 360-degree videos using Street View Studio. The content will be shown in the Google Maps app.
