Elon Musk reinstates Trump’s Twitter account

Twitter

Former US President Donald Trump is finally back on Twitter. His Twitter account has been reinstated after the Elon Musk poll received responses in favor. Even if Trump’s account was restored, he didn’t post any Tweet. It is also not clear whether Trump would actually start using Twitter.

It is interesting to note that Trump recently confirmed his another White House bid. So, coming back to Twitter will surely help him with his poll campaigns. When Trump’s account Wass suspended, he had more than 88 million Twitter followers. Now when the account is back, it only had 5.9 million followers.

On Friday, Elon Musk posted a poll on Twitter asking users if Trump’s account should be allowed back. The poll received 15 million votes and 51.8% of responses were in favor of reinstating Trump’s Twitter.

When Elon Musk bought Twitter back in October, he confirmed that he would not reinstate any banned accounts until Twitter sets up new rules on content moderation.

Donald Trump’s Twitter account was banned a few days after the pro-Trump mob attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

After Donald Trump was banned from Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook, he created his own social platform called Truth Social. He also actively uses it. When the app was launched for iOS, the app was blamed for using the Mastodon source code without proper credit. Google didn’t approve the app even after several attempts.

Trump also said that he will not return to Twitter but will keep using his own network, Truth Social.
