India’s e-commerce giant Flipkart has a newly launched virtual shopping experience called ‘Flipverse’ during the ongoing Diwali sale. The company has already begun the pilot experience on Android apps starting today till October 23.
Flipkart partnered with eDAO, a Polygon-incubated firm, to launch Flipverse. The company has also partnered with Fireblocks, IDfy, and GuardianLink.
“15 years ago, we were the first Indian company to launch web 2.0-based commerce. And I feel today we are the first company to launch web 3.0 commerce,” said a Flipkart executive at the briefing.
Flipkart said that it has partnered with “a wide range of brands” including Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes, and Himalaya to set up experience theaters on Flipverse. Flipverse will offer a virtual 3D experience of products. The experience will be streamed via the cloud and will not cause a load on users’ devices.
Flipverse is available in the Firedrops section of the Flipkart app. You just need the Flipkart app to access the Firedrops. It is only available on mobile apps. There is no crypto payment involved in the whole experience. Before you access Firedrops, you need to complete the KYC. Then you can access the Flipverse.
Consumers will also be available to collect Supercoins and digital collectibles from partner brands if they make purchases in Flipverse. There are also a few casual games to try. Flipverse will also host NFTS, contests, drops, brand activations, mystery boxes, and more.
This is just an experiment. So future of Flipverse is uncertain. If the company gets a good response and any good business opportunity, it will think about making it permanent.
