Acer unveils the world’s first gaming Chromebook

Acer has just unveiled the world’s first gaming Chromebook dubbed Acer Chromebook 516 GE. This Chromebook has even been optimized for cloud gaming services like GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Acer Chromebook 516 GE features a 16-inch IPS display that boats 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. It has a 2560×1600 pixels resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display also has a 120Hz refresh rate.

Acer Chromebook 516 GE packs up to Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB or 16GB Dual-channel SDRAM, and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It has Intel Iris Xe graphics that supports OpenGL 4.6, OpenCL 3.0, Microsoft DirectX 12.1, and Intel Quick Sync Video.

It also has a backlit RGB keyboard with anti-ghosting tech. The Chromebook also features a 1080p webcam and DTS audio. The laptop also has RJ-45 2.5G ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, dual USB Type C, USB Type A, and HDMI.

The Chromebook packs a 65-watt-hour battery and promises up to nine hours of battery life.

Acer Chromebook 516 GE starts at $650 and will be available in the US in October. It will also arrive in Europe in December.
