During Intel’s Innovation 2022 conference, Samsung Display CEO JS Choi and Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger showed off the concept ‘Slidable’ PC. The slidable PC features an extendable OLED display that lets you turn a 13-inch display into a 17-inch display by pulling on its edge.

Samsun claims that the slidable PC will satisfy both large display and portability needs.

“We’re announcing the world’s first 17-inch slidable display for PCs,” said Choi. “This device will satisfy various needs for a larger screen and portability as well.”

The slidable PC prototype didn’t have a keyboard, but one can easily pair it with a Bluetooth keyboard or use an on-screen touch keyboard. The company could also add a physical keyboard to it when the design becomes mature enough.

Intel has been experimenting with new PC form factors for years. It initially worked on Dual-screen laptops and foldable PCs before Microsoft dropped Windows 10X for foldable. Now the company has worked with Samsung for the Slidable PC.

This is just a prototype. So, we cannot say when the slidable PC will become an actual product. We have already seen a few foldable laptops from Asus and Lenovo. Now when Samsung has brought Slidable PC, it will be interesting to see how consumers react to it.
