WhatsApp has started rolling our reactions starting today. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed this via a Facebook post. In the initial stage, the company is adding six different reactions including like, love, laugh, surprise, sad, and thanks.

For reacting to a message on WhatsApp, you just need to press and hold the message where you want to react. You will now see 6 emojis. Select one to react. See the screenshot to understand how it will look on WhatsApp.

It will be available in both individual and group conversations. But certainly, it will be helpful in groups a lot. For now, users need to reply to the message with a certain emoji or sticker. The message reaction will appear below the message. In groups, the person who sent the message will be able to see all reactions sent by other users of the group.

Several messaging apps including Messenger, Instagram, Discord, and more already offer message reactions. Not sure why WhatsApp took so long in adding it to the platform.
