Snap has today announced that Snapchat users can now change usernames starting February 23rd. The company confirmed that changing usernames won’t affect friend lists, Snap codes, Snap scores, memories, etc. Snap also notes that users can change their usernames once per year.

Changing the username on Snapchat will be straightforward. Tap the Bitmoji icon in the top-left corner of the camera to open the profile section. The tap gear icon in the top-right corner to select Settings. Then tap ‘username’ and you will see the ‘change username’ button. Now enter the new username and hit ‘next’ to save your selection.

Snapchat users have been asking for this feature for a long time. Finally, the company has decided to introduce this feature to make Snapchat users happy. You can only pick a username that has not been taken. Even if a username is already registered and inactive, you cannot pick it. If you get a new username, your old username is gone forever.
