Google releases first Android 13 Developer Preview

Google has released the first developer preview of Android 13. It comes with several changes, privacy improvements, Material You, and more. This release is only for developers to get early access to Android 13 and improve their apps for the next major Android OS.

Google has also confirmed the whole timeline to tell us when can we expect the stable release.

Android 13 Developer Preview

Android 13 brings an updated Photo Picket API that lets users share images and videos with apps. It has also added new Wi-Fi permission which helps minimize location data usage. The new Android OS will also introduce a new API to help developers identify their users’ preferred language.

Dynamic app icons of Material You have also been extended to all app icons in Android 13. So, App developers can also now use dynamic app icons.

Developers can install and test Android 13 developer preview on Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 XL, or Pixel 4 by flashing a system image.

First, beta will be released in April 2022 and a stable release is expected in August or September 2022.
