At Google for India event, Google has introduced a new Bill Split option for Indian users. This feature will be coming to Google Pay later this year.

Google Pay added ‘Groups’ on the app earlier this year. Now the company has added the split bill option in that. If a user has made a payment using Google Pay and then select the Group, the payment will be split into group members. The user will also be able to track the payments from within the app.

You can see the video embedded above to understand how the new “Split an expense” button will work on Google Pay groups. It will also show a progress bar showing the number of participants who have transferred their share.

Google Pay is still a popular UPI payments app in India. The app got early success by offering cashback on payments but lost market share to PhonePe for frequent payments failure. I also switched from Google Pay to PhonePe just because of frequent payments failure.
