There are lots of guitar tuner apps that let you tune your guitar. Now Google also wants to help you in tuning your guitar. So, the company has added a chromatic tuner within the search. It is worth noting that Google Assistant has a similar feature via a “tune my instrument” command.

Search for “Google tuner” or a similar keyword on desktop or smartphone and you will see a chromatic tuner on top of the results page. The interface is similar to other guitar tuning apps. You play a string on the guitar, Google detects the note and tells you to “tune-up” or “tune down” as required.

The tools work well but the effectiveness depends a lot on your device’s microphone. If you are using it on the desktop, make sure you have a good studio-grade microphone. In budget Android phones, this feature doesn’t brook well because it couldn’t pick things up unless the sound of the guitar is too loud and is played near the phone.

Guitar tuner apps or Google’s guitar tuner search feature are good, but they are still way behind dedicated hardware tuners. As I said, these apps depend on your phone’s mic and there is no way to connect your guitar to your smartphone. for improved tuning.
