Earlier today, Google officially rolled out a stable Android 12 build after several beta releases. A few hours after the release, Dave Burke, Google’s vice president of engineering for Android confirmed that the Android 12 also has an official dessert name i.e. Snow Cone.

Each major Android version had an official desert name until 2019 when Google decided to abandon this naming scheme. Android and Android 11 didn’t get any official dessert names.

Snow Cone name was first surfaced in February as an internal name for the next major Android versions. But not all internal names come as a final name, so this didn’t get enough coverage.

Android 10 and Android 11 also reported having internal names Queen Cake and Red Velvet Cake. Not sure if these names were actually used by Google developers.

Android 12 is coming to Android devices soon. The new version of Android comes with new design scheme, updated widgets, enhanced privacy and several improvements. Pixel devices will be first to get Android 12 followed by flagship devices by other brands.
