We know how much Apple hates the “Right to Repair” movement. The company charges high for the repair of its out-of-warranty products and also doesn’t want people to opt for Third-party repair as a cheaper option. The company keeps putting several obstacles in the design to prohibit unauthorized repairs. With every new product, the company keeps improving its ability to block third-party repairs.
Recently. iFixit made a teardown video and confirmed how easy it is to replace the iPhone 13 Pro’s battery. But this isn’t the case for other parts of the iPhone 13 series. A youtube channel Phone Repair Guru tried changing the display of iPhone 13 and found that it breaks Face ID functionality. He even tried adding a genuine Apple screen taken from another iPhone 13 but Faced didn’t work.
The phone says “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display.”
We have seen several cases when Apple’s authorized service centres quoted too high price for the rapid but third-party repair shops did the same thing in affordable prices. Now if Apple will block third-party repairs, customers will have to first pay high for products and then again a big sum for repairs.
