Ola has finally unveiled its much-awaited electric scooters Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro. The company will start selling these scooters starting September 8 and deliveries will begin in October.

Ola S1 is priced at Rs 99,999 while the S1 Pro model costs Rs 1,29,999. These prices also include FAME II subsidies but customers will get additional subsidies from states. So, the price could go to as low as Rs 75,000 in Gujarat. Ola also claims that Ola scooters are cheaper than rivals from companies including Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto, and TVS Motors.

The primary difference in S1 and S1 Pro is the range. Ola S1 packs a 2.98 KwH battery and promises a 121 km range on fully charged battery. It also has a top speed of 90 Km/hr. Ola S1 Pro packs a 3.97 KwH battery and is rated to offer a 181 km range and a top speed of 115 km/h.

The S1 and S1 Pro can be charged in 4.48 hours and 6.30 hours, respectively. Ola will also develop an Ola Hypercharger network. The company has plans to add charging stations in 1 lakh locations across 400 cities.

Ola Ola Electric Scooters offer keyless entry with proximity lock. So, you can also unlock your scooter via phone or via passcode. It has a 7-inch touchscreen display and a vehicle control unit. Other notable features include reverse parking. S1 Pro variant also gets a hill hold function, cruise control, and voice assistant functions that are not available in the S1 model.

The scooter runs on its proprietary operating system MoveOS that comes with several features including multiple rider profiles and Parental mode to set a speed limit or track movement. There’s also an SOS function to notify medical services and authorities in the event of an accident.

Ola confirmed that the battery, design tech, and software have been designed and built in-house at the Bengaluru-based Ola Futurefactory. That means 90% localisation. The company only imported battery cells from Korea.
