FaceTime for the web brings it to Android and Windows

FaceTime for web

During its WWDC keynote, Apple announced several new features for FaceTime. One of the feature is joining FaceTime calls from the browser using the sharable link. That means, users on Android and Windows devices can also join FaceTime calls.

Just like in other video conferencing apps, FaceTime is also getting links. So, you can generate a link for a FaceTime call. Other users can tap on the link to join a FaceTime call. If they are not using an Apple device, the link will be opened in the browser. So, they can join the FaceTime call directly from the browser.

Apple has also announced several other notable improvements to FaceTime. The update brings improved background noise reduction, spatial audio to match voices with faces in Group FaceTime, portrait mode, and more.

Apple has also revealed SharePlay that lets you watch a video or movie together with your friends. You can even share your screen on FaceTime calls.

The company has basically tried making FaceTime a productivity tool to include features that are available in differnt video calling apps. All these features put FaceTime in direct competition against other video call services, such as Zoom and Google Meet.
