The New Product Experiments team at Facebook has quietly released its latest experimental app called Tuned. Tuned is a platform designed specifically for couples. If you are single, you cannot use the app.

Tuned aims to be a “private space” for couples to get closer. The app offers several options like messaging, status updates, mood sharing, love notes, photo sharing, stickers, and GIFs. The app also includes a calendar where you can add in anniversaries and significant dates. The app will keep reminding you about these. Basically, the app aims to help you understand your partner better and have a private space to deepen your relationship.

Tuned app is currently in open beta and doesn’t need a Facebook account to join in. You can create an account just using your phone number and invite your partner before you can get access to it. The app description doesn’t explain how the company will handle the data. So, I assume Facebook will access your data to show you relevant ads across other platforms it owns.

Tuned isn’t the first app that aims to bring couples closer. There are similar couple-friendly apps such as Between and Couply. Tuned was first introduced for iOS back in April 2020 and was only available to users living in the United States and Canada.
