Google has added a new feature to hide personal photos in your photo feed of Google Photos. The feature is called Locked Folder. Using Locked Folder, you can put whatever sensitive photos behind the password to avoid unauthorized access.
I assume you can feel how important this feature could be. If you give your phone to someone for checking a few photos on Google Photos, they can access all the photos there. So hiding personal photos in Locked Folder is a better way.
Photos hidden in Locked Folder will not be available on the main screen as you scroll Google Photos. It will also be not available in other devices connected to your Google Photos account like Nest Hub. Obviously, these photos will also not be shown in memory alerts.
“We specifically heard from the transgender community that resurfacing certain photos is painful, so we’ve been working with our partners at GLAAD and listening to feedback to make reminiscing more inclusive,” says Shimrit Ben-Yair, VP of Google Photos. “Google Photos already includes controls to hide photos of certain people or time periods, and we’re continuing to add new ones to improve the experience as a result of this continued partnership.”
Google confirmed that the feature will initially be available on Pixel Photos but will also be made available to other Android phones “throughout the year.”
