The voice-based social networking platform Clubhouse is finally launching an Android app. For now, the app is available for users living in the US but it will be rolled out gradually in other English-speaking countries in the coming months. Later, it will also be available to the rest of the world.

Until now, the app was only available for iOS and users still need invite to sign up. Even after making its debut on Android, the company is keeping the invite model for the signup. So you still need to be invited to the Clubhouse by someone who is already using the Clubhouse. The company began the development of the Android app earlier this year and beta testing began recently.

If you are living in the US, you can download Clubhouse from the Play Store. As I already said, you still need the invite to start using the platform.

Clubhouse recently became trending and attracted some high-profile celebrities, politicians, investors, and entrepreneurs on its platform. In most recent funding, it was valued at around $4 billion.

Clubhouse is releasing an Android app at a time when several big tech giants are trying to attract Android users who are interested in trying audio-only chats like in Clubhouse. Facebook, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Reddit, and Microsoft’s LinkedIn have already launched similar offerings. Twitter’s Spaces is one of the biggest competitors to Clubhouse.
