Redmi’s first gaming phone is finally official and it is called Redmi K40 Gaming Edition.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition comes with a 6.67 inches flexible OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, three-finger 480Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+ certification. The phone has Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The company has also added customizable RGB light to the rear camera module.
It packs MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor and ARM G77 MC9 GPU. For effective cooling, the phone has multi-stacked graphite layers combined with super-large vapor chambers and new heat dissipation material. It covers an area of 11540mm² and keeps the temperature of the phone low even during intensive gaming. It comes in 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/128GB and 12/256GB models.
The phone runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box. It also comes with a Game Mode that you can turn on to customize your gaming experience.
This gaming phone has a magnetic dual-trigger design that lets users play games with additional controls. Xiaomi claims that these triggers are rated for up to 1.5 million taps. You will also get realistic pressing feedback due to the mechanical structure
The phone has a triple camera on the back. There are 64 megapixels primary camera, 8 megapixels 120° ultrawide angle camera, and 2 megapixels macro camera. It also includes a 16 megapixels selfie camera.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition packs stereo speakers from JBL and also supports Dolby Atmos.
The fingerprint sensor is on the side and the phone also packs an IR sensor. It supports USB Type-C audio. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.1 (Bluetooth 5.2 in Pro), GPS (L1 + L5), NavIC, NFC, and USB Type-C. It packs a 5,065mAh battery with 66W fast charging.

The regular phone comes in Black, silver and white colors. The phone is also IP53 dust and water-resistant. Redmi has also launched the phone in limited Bruce Lee Special Edition with 12GB RAM and 256GB Storage.
