Whatsapp rolls out video and audio calling feature to its desktop app

WhatsApp has finally started rolling out the video and audio calling feature to WhatsApp’s desktop app. For now, calling is available only for one-to-one calls. Group calling will be available soon.

The company says that Whatsapp Desktop calling us available on Windows 10 64-bit version 1903 and newer. For macOS, it requires macOS 10.13 and newer.

Video calling on big screen is always a good experience because you can see people more clearly. WhatsApp confirmed that the app works seamlessly for both portrait and landscape orientation. Video calls will appear in a resizable standalone window on your computer screen. It will also be always on top.

Several people who use Zoom or Google Meet on desktop for personal video calls will surely find video calling on WhatsApp’s desktop client more convenient. WhatsApp has more than 2 billion users and many still prefer big screen for calling.
