Micro-blogging platform Twitter has started rolling out voice DMs in India, Brazil, and Japan starting Today. The feature will be available to only limited users on Android and iOS.
Similar to voice tweets, voice DMs lets users record a voice note and send in message. A voice DM can only be up to 140 seconds long. At receiver’s end, there will be a button to play and pause the voice note. There is also an option to “report” a voice note.
Go to your DM and see if there is a mic icon. To record a voice DM on iOS, tap and hold the mic icon. When you are done, release to send. Android users can tap the mic icon to start the record and tap again to stop. They can also listen to voice message before sending.
Announcing the new voice DM feature, Manish Maheshwari, Managing Director, Twitter India said, “India is a priority market for Twitter, and that is why we’re constantly testing new features and learning from people’s experience on the service here.
Twitter first started testing voice DMs back in September last year in Brazil. Even if the company is expanding the reach to other countries, the feature is still in testing.
It is worth noting that other social networks such as Facebook and Instagram already have voice DMs feature.
