Microblogging platform Twitter has finally decided to get rid of threaded replies. The company started experimenting with threaded replies earlier this year and this feature lets users reply within a reply of a tweet. Everyone found threaded replies confusing.

“We asked and you let us know this reply layout wasn’t it, as it was harder to read and join conversations. So we’ve turned off this format to work on other ways to improve conversations on Twitter,” Twitter Support said.

This feature was still not available to all users because it was still in testing. The company was testing it on the Twttr app and with some iOS users. Most users who got access to threaded replies didn’t give positive feedback. You can see the video above to see how confusing it was to read a conversation with threaded replies.

Twitter is also shutting down its experimental prototype app ‘twttr’ where the company actively tests new features. The app was launched back in 2019. Users who use Twttr get access to all experimental features before they become available to the main Twitter app. If you are using Twttr app, you need to start using Twitter’s main app.
