Tesla Inc. co-founder Elon Musk has passed Bill Gates to become the world’s second-richest person. His increasing wealth is due to the surge in Tesla’s share price. Elon has added $100.3 billion to his net worth this year.

Tesla has seen a surge in its market capitalization due to increasing share prices recently. Tesla has grown by 520% year to date. The company is now approaching $500 billion. Around three-quarters of Musk’s net worth is comprised of Tesla shares. So, his net worth is also increasing.

In January this year, he was at 35th rank in the list of the world’s richest person. He added nearly $100.3 Billion to his net worth this year. Elon added $7.2 billion just on Monday to his net worth.

Bill Gates held the top spot as the richest person in the world for years. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos surpassed Bill Gates in 2017. Now Elon Musk has pushed Bill to third place. Amazon’s Bezos is still the richest man in the world with an estimated net worth of $182 billion.
