Earlier today, Paytm announced the launch of the Paytm Mini App Store within its digital payments app. This has been announced just days after the Paytm app was removed from Play Store for not following Google’s Play Store policies. Since the Paytm app was removed from Play Store, Paytm CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, has been calling out Google for dictating Indian businesses using its policies. He also called Indian developers to join hands for an Indian App Store. Now he launched the one.
Paytm Mini App Store is basically the collection of progressive Web apps (PWAs) that run within the web browser and don’t need installation. TO encourage developers, Paytm will also provide free payment avenues including Paytm Wallet, Paytm Payments Bank, and UPI. There will also be a dashboard for analytics, payment collection, and various marketing tools to engage with users.
To access the Mini App Store, Click on Show More on the Paytm App’s home screen and then select the Mini App Store. Here’s a screenshot to show you the wat.
All the apps listed on the Mini App store will open within a window inside the Paytm app itself and there will be no listing charges. PWAs are easy to develop using HTML and Javascript.
Paytm claims that over 300 app-based service providers including Decathlon, Domino’s Pizza, FreshMenu, Netmeds, NoBroker, Ola, and more have already joined the program. These apps will soon be available to the Mini App Store. If you are also an app developer, you can think of joining the program to publish your app and reach out to millions of users.
For now, the Mini App Store is in beta and has a handful of apps. Now the company is calling Indian developers to join and release their apps for this new Indian App Store.
