Along with announcing Google’s investment, Reliance Jio also announced a mixed reality headset ‘Jio Glass’ at the annual Reliance AGM 2020. This headset can be paired with a smartphone to make video calls, and host meetings in a 3D holographic environment.

Jio Glass has been designed by a deep tech company Tesseract. Reliance acquired a majority stake in Tesseract back in August 2019.

Jio Glass weighs just 75 grams and looks like a normal pair of sunglasses. It has several sensors and necessary hardware for mixed reality experience. There’s a high-resolution display, and vents in the frame for heat dissipation.

It also supports spatial and directional XR sound system that runs all audio formats without any wired attachments. Users will also be able to make calls using the Jio Glass through voice commands like “Hello Jio, please call XXX and YYYY.”

The headset already comes with 25 mixed reality applications compatibility. This could be used for the 3D virtual classroom and in conducting holographic sessions.

The company didn’t unveil pricing and availability plans for Jio Glass.
