Latest WhatsApp Beta Gets Messenger Rooms Integration

A few days back, Facebook announced a group video calling feature Messenger Rooms. At the time of the announcement, the company has also confirmed that the feature will also be integrated into WhatsApp and Instagram to allow users to initiate Messenger Rooms video calls from any supported app.

Now WhatsApp has added the Messenger Rooms shortcut on WhatsApp beta version 2.20.139 for Android. It has been added to two places including share sheet and calls page.

Rooms button doesn’t work yet confirming that the feature is currently under development and will take some time to be available. Currently, it explains the feature on selecting the “Rooms” option.

Facebook Rooms is a video conferencing service that lets users make video calls with up to 50 people. Users can join group video call with a direct link and there’s no need to have a Facebook account for joining Rooms video calls.

This announcement camera after video calling services like Zoom meeting and Houseparty are seeing a surge in their user base. Facebook doesn’t want to lose this opportunity.
