SanDisk showcases 8TB Portable SSD Prototype and 1TB Dual Drive Luxe

At CES 2020, Western Digital demonstrated the world’s highest capacity pocket SSD under its brand SanDisk. The company has showcased its new 8TB portable SSD storage prototype.

This 8TB portable SSD is the biggest (in terms of storage capacity) ever made. Despite having such a large storage capacity, it is tiny and can easily fit in your pocket. Still, it is bigger than the company’s current Extreme Portable External SSD models. It is fast with SuperSpeed USB offering 20Gbps data transfer speed.

It is s a prototype, so there is no confirmation when the product will actually available for consumers. The market is also not yet ready for such expensive options.

SanDisk also showed off its 1TB USB-C Flashdrive back in 2018 at CES 2018. Now the company is ready with a consumer product. This one comes with an extra USB-A port. So, you can use it with nearly all types of computers. The company calls it 1TB SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C.

This dual-drive comes with all-metal construction and has a swivel design. It can easily fit on a keychain.

The 1TB SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C is priced at $249.99. It is expected to be available later this calendar quarter.

Western Digital also showcased storage solutions for PC and console gamers. WD_Black P50 is the first SSD for gaming featuring a SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps interface. It starts at $179 for the 500GB model.

WD_Black P10 and D10 are also available starting today. P10 is available from 1TB to 5TB while D10 offers 12TB storage. These external hard drives exclusively for Microsoft’s Xbox One. Consumers will also get the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial.

Sandisk also has a new ibi Photo Management device at the booth. It is not exactly a new launch but ab interesting one check. It lets you automatically and wirelessly back up photos and videos from your smartphone. It has 1 TB of storage that can store up to 250,000 photos. or 100 hours of video. All photos and videos can be checked using the companion app.
