A few hours back, Google announced Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL devices. This time the company has focused on more than just a camera. But there is a disappointing thing as well. This time Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL buyers will not get unlimited ‘original quality’ storage, but they will get unlimited Google Photos storage in ‘High Quality’. That means photos will be compressed to save space.
It is worth to note that all Google Pixel flagship devices before the Pixel 4 series gave customers unlimited original quality image storage on Google Photos. Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL also didn’t come with original quality unlimited storage, but we thought they are mid-range phones. Pixel 4 starts at $799, so these are not cheap. Photographers will surely be disappointed with this change who need to save unlimited original quality image storage on Google Photos.
Pixel 4’s primary camera is still 12 megapixels and the Telephoto camera has 16 megapixels sensor. So, it will not generate photos of a larger size. Still Google decided not to stress Google’s cloud storage.
Google has decided not to launch the Pixel 4 series in India because of its radar-based gesture control technology that works on the spectrum. This spectrum is locked for defense and government use.
