Google to shut down its job application service ‘Hire’ in 2020

In recent months, Google has killed several apps and services including Google+, Inbox, Allo, Jump VR platform and Daydream VR’s Play Movies & TV app. Now the company has decided to shut down Google Hire in just years after the launch.

Google Hire was launched in the USA only and aimed to compete against LinkedIn. The company designed this service to integrate it with G Suite apps for offering small to mid-sized businesses an easier way for the hiring process.

Google Hire won’t be available after September 1, 2020. The company claims that Google Hire was a success but it wants to focus on other products in the Google Cloud portfolio. Existing Google Hire customers can keep using it until the end of their contract or September 1, 2020.

Google will also provide a free data export until the end of the contract term or September 1, 2020, The export format is JSON.

Google Hire may be good, but it was only available to G Suite customers in the US. So, it was only used by a limited number of businesses. G Suite already has lots of competitors including Zoho.

If you have been using Google Hire, you should now look for alternate options.
