Qualcomm has announced a new flagship chipset Snapdragon 855 Plus. It comes with a higher CPU and GPU clock speeds for better performance.

The most notable change is in the Adreno 640 that now offers 15% better performance. The fast Kryo 485 CPU core has been boosted to 2.96GHz (up from 2.84GHz), but there’s no information about other three Kryo 485 cores.

There’s no change in RAM or storage support. It still comes with X24 LTE modem and can be connected to an external X50 modem for 5G support. It also comes with Qualcomm’s fourth-generation AI Engine that’s capable of performing more than 7 trillion operations per second.

Qualcomm says that this chipset will offer outstanding performance in tasks related to gaming, AI and XR.

Until Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 865, this chipset will be used by flagship phones coming in the next half of 2019 and in early 2020. It seems upcoming ROG phone 2 could be the first phone to pack Snapdragon 855 Plus.
