Netflix has announced a pocket-friendly plan for Indian consumers. After testing for a few months, Netflix has officially announced a mobile-only subscription plan priced at Rs. 199 per month.

This 199 mobile-only plan lets you watch Netflix content in SD (standard definition) quality without any ads. You can watch content only on your phone or tablet. It is also restricted to only one user. You cannot share this plan. Casting support is also not available.

The company is already facing a huge competition from MXPlayer, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, ALT Balaji, and Zee5. Indian market is price sensitive, so the company has to give aggressive pricing to retain its consumer base. Netflix’s existing monthly plans are the same. Here are the regular subscription plans on Netflix.

  • Basic – Rs 499/month (one screen)
  • Standard – Rs 649/month (Two screens)
  • Premium – Rs 799/month (Four screens)

It is also worth to note that the company tested this plan at Rs 250/month but brought down to Rs 199 to make it an attractive deal. Netflix has also confirmed that they are testing weekly subscriptions as well.

Netflix is set to release Sacred Games 2 next month. So, introducing a cheaper mobile-only plan this time makes more sense. It will surely boost paid subscribers base of Netflix in India.

Netflix will also roll out this mobile-only subscription plan to countries in the coming months.
