India’s First Long-Range Electric SUV Hyundai Kona Launched for Rs 25 lakh

Today, Hyundai Motors launched its new Kona Electric SUV in India. This electric SUV is priced at Rs. 25.30 lakh ex-showroom. It will be sold through 15 select dealerships in 11 cities around the country.

Hyundai Kona has an ARAI-certified range of 452 Km on a single charge. It packs 39.2 kWh battery that can be fully charged in 6 hours using the bundled 7kWh charger. There’s also a DC fast charger that can charge the battery of SUV up to 80 percent in just 57 minutes.

Hyundai promises that it will install fast chargers in all dealerships selling the vehicle. For this, the company is collaborating with Indian Oil Corporation.

The electric motor used in Hyundai Kona offers a peak power of 134 bhp and max torque of 395 Nm. It can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.7 seconds.

Kona features a 17.7 cm floating touchscreen infotainment system that also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has heated and ventilated seats, sunroof and more. Hyundai has also taken care of safety and Kona comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, blind spot detection, hill-start assist, reverse camera and TPMS.

Kona is equipped with LED bi-function headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, roof rails, rear roof spoiler and 17-inch alloys.

It measures 4180 x 1800 x 1570 mm and comes in four monotone color options – white, blue, silver and black. There is also one dual tone color choice – white with a black roof but it costs Rs. 20000 extra.

The company is also offering a warranty of three years with unlimited kilometers on the Kona.
