Flipkart has launched a new e-commerce platform 2GUD in India for selling refurbished products.  In start, the company has added refurbished smartphones, laptops and accessories but already confirmed the plans to extend it to several other categories in coming months.

All the refurbished products being sold on 2GUD platform carry post purchase warranty of 3 to 12 months. Flipkart claims that all the products listed on the website go through a rigorous 47-step quality check. They check everything properly before making them available on the platform.

Flipkart acquired F1 Info Solutions, a mobile and IT repair services’ company back in September 2017. F1 Info Solutions has pan India operation, so Flipkart already has wide reach to offer repair services for its refurbished products.

Another interesting thing is that the website of 2GUD is only available on mobile web. If you open it from desktop, it asks you to visit the URL via mobile. The company has promised to bring it to desktop and dedicated mobile apps soon.

Flipkart’s foray into the refurbished goods market is a good move for business expansion. This market is expected to touch $20 billion in next 5-6 years. We already have Quikr and OLX like big names along with startups like Rocking Deals, Reboot, Yaantra and GoZunk selling refurbished products. Amazon and Shopclues are also seeing refurbished products with dedicated listings. But Flipkart decided to launch a dedicated portal to avoid any confusion. Consumers will know that they have Flipkart for new products and 2GUD for refurbished.
