Xperia XZ3 could be first phone to feature recently announced 48 MP camera sensor

Earlier this week, Sony announced world’s first 48 megapixels sensor IMX586 for smartphones. It seems Sony will be using the same sensor in its upcoming Xperia XZ3. No, this is not our guess but hinted by a listing on GFXBench.

A GFXBench screenshot has been spotted on Weibo. This listing belongs to a Sony smartphone with model number H8416. It confirms octa-core processor clock speed of 2.70GHz and Adreno 630 GPU. This points towards the presence of a Snapdragon 845.

The listing also says 47 MP camera. So, it is possible that Sony will be using the newly announced IMX586 sensor with 48 megapixels.

Recently leaked renders of Xperia XZ3 hinted the single rear camera setup but another leak talked about the dual camera setup. So, we are still not sure if the phone will feature a single 48 megapixels camera or will also have a secondary camera for better camera experience.

Xperia XZ3 could become official during the IFA 2018 trade show in Berlin. So, we still have enough time for more leaks and renders.
