From a simple keyboard app to a feature rich keyboard app, Gboard has come a long way. Google keeps on adding interesting features and improving its performance to retain its users.

Now Google is testing a battery saver mode on Gboard that aims to improve the battery life of your phone. If you enable the battery saver mode, keyboard will switch to dark theme and disable the power hungry features.

The battery saver mode can be disabled or enabled manually. So, it will be up to users if they want to use the battery saver feature.

Not just battery saver, Gboard is also getting a sort of optical character recognition capability. It will appear alongside Translate, GIF, and sticker shortcuts. Users will be able to snap pictures and grab the text for copying and pasting.

Gboard will also warn users if there is not enough storage for downloading more stocker or Bitmoji packs. It will also combine emoji, stickers, and GIFs into a single universal media shortcuts. Users will also be able to favorite stickers for quicker access.

These features are only available in beta version of the app. If you want to try them before the public appearance, you need to sign up for Gboard’s beta program.
