After becoming number 1 smartphone brand in India, Xiaomi has now achieved another milestone. The company has become the fourth largest smartphone maker globally during first Quarter of 2018.
This was confirmed by the report published by Strategy Analytics for the first quarter of 2018. Xiaomi has found the 4th position by beating Oppo.

Xiaomi now has 8.2% market share globally and it sold 28.3 million smartphone units in Q1 2018. If you compare the data from same quarter of previous year, Xiaomi had 3.6% market share and sold 12.6% units. It shows the strong growth from the company.
Samsung is on the top with 22.6% market share and it sold 78.2 million units during the specified time period. Apple sold 52.2 million units to achieve 15.1% market share.
Huawei has retained its third position with shipment of 39.3 million units sale. It has moved its market share from 9.8% in Q1 2017 to 11.4% in Q1 2018.
Oppo lost fourth place to Xiaomi and is now at fifth. Its market share dropped to 7% in Q1 2018 from 7.8% in Q1 2017. Number of units sold also dropped from 27.6 million units to 24.1 million units.
Xiaomi and Huawei both performed well but Xiaomi’s growth was extraordinary. Apple also managed to show growth even if its iPhone X didn’t sold as per expectations.
