Pune has become another Indian city to get public wifi hotspots. Google India has launched 150 Google Station Wi-Fi hotspots across Pune under its Google Station initiative.

Google, in partnership with Larsen & Toubro, launched this project as a part of Smart City Development Corporation Limited’s Smart City project. All these wifi hotspots are now operational. You can access the list of Pune Wi-Fi hotspot location here.

If you are around any location, you just need to turn on Wifi and connect to ‘Pune WiFi’ network. You will have to verify your phone number using OTP method before using this free hotspot service.

Google claims that this hotspot service will give users an easy access to tracking of public buses, opportunities for digital learning, and participation in digital governance.

Google is testing the network based on performance to improve user experience. So, we can expect more reliable connection through these hotspots in coming weeks.

Google got this contract, valued at Rs 150 crore, last year in January. It is the first Wifi project from Google Stations that has been launched outside any Railway station. Google started Google Stations back in 2016 to offer wifi hotspots at Railway Stations. Now there are over 270 stations online and will become 400 by the end of 2018.

It is worth to note that Mumbai got world’s largest public Wi-Fi service last year.
