Twitter has confirmed that a bug exposed the email addresses and phone numbers of the unknown number of Vine users. Now the company has started informing users about the data breach.
Twitter sent a message to all Vine account holders confirming the recent breach. The good news is that no passwords or other personal data were involved in the breach.
The leaked information cannot be used to access the account and the company has already fixed the bug. The company also confirmed that there is no information if the information was used for any malicious purpose.
Twitter urged to be “cautious if you receive emails or text messages from unknown senders.”
We also recommend users to take care and do not blindly trust on any email or calls you receive pretending to be from Vine or Twitter. No ever give your passwords to anyone on phone calls or email. Avoid opening any email attachments from emails pretending to come from Vine or Twitter.
Twitter is now the owner of Vine and it ended the ability to upload content at the start of this year. Now, Vine is a camera app to create videos for Twitter or save on phone for later uses.
Twitter didn’t confirm the number of users affected and how this data was accessed.
