Instagram just announced that it has now more than 700 million monthly active users. Now the company is targeting to reach 1 billion active users milestone.
Instagram was initially launched back on October 6, 2010, and took around 28 months to hit first 100 million subscribers. The photo-sharing app announced the previous milestone of 600 million active users back in December. In just 4 months, it added last 100 million users. This is the fastest growth rate it ever recorded.

Live video, stories and disappearing messages in Direct have helped the app to retain existing users and attract more. Recently, the company confirmed that over 200 million users use stories daily.
This Facebook-owned photo-sharing app has been copying features from Snapchat and successfully giving Snapchat a tough competition. Not just it has active users, it is also earning good money from advertisers.
Instagram always try to adapt new trends to stay cool and this is the primary reason why the app is seeing increasing popularity even after six and half years.
